#183 Italian Vetterli Vitali M1870/87This is a pretty decent, unaltered 10.4 mm Italian Vetterli rifle with an immaculate, bright, shiny bore which is just about perfect. The rifle's major defect is a repaired stock crack on the left side, just above the magazine (see photos). The repair is incomplete, but with a careful re-repair, this would be a very nice rifle for both shooting and display as not only is the metal nice but the stock cartouches are bold and dramatic, never been sanded nor obscured. Except for lack of a cleaning rod, the rifle is complete and fully functional with all parts including sling swivels. Except for its cracked stock, this is a very fine Italian Vetterli.
