#584 New York State Remington M1871 Rolling blockThis is a standard, as issued, NY state militia rolling block chambered for the commonly available .50-.70 government cartridge. The rifle is complete including both sling swivels, cleaning rod and all parts. The rifle is, however, pretty dirty and could use a good cleaning and perhaps careful restoration. The bore is bright and shiny with clean, clear rifling but a tinny bit of roughness when looking from the breech end. Exterior metal has no finish and there are some areas of light pitting as you can see in the photos. Militia markings are clear and sharp. The wood is in surprising good shape with very few handling marks and no cracks or chips. A good shooting .50 caliber rolling block at a very reasonable price.
