#659 - British Snider Mark II**

#659 British Snider Mark II**This BSA manufactured Mark II conversion on a P1853 Enfield rifle is unusual in that BSA was apparently beginning to use steal barrels (which the mark III used exclusively) on converted Mark II rifles. This rifle is complete with original cleaning rod and in overall decent shape, but could use some loving attention. This rifle is NOT part of the Nepalese group of rifles recently but it does show Arabic markings on the rear trigger tang, suggesting that it may have served in Afghanistan. Metal surfaces have been cleaned, also suggesting an Afghanistani history. The action is tight and crisp with a strong main spring and solid half cock and the breach block snaps into place firmly and decisively. The rifle would certainly make a good shooter. The lands and groves are crisp and clear, however, the bore does have areas of roughness. This rifle is clearly collectible and shootable along with an obviously interesting history. [BUT READ MY DISCLAIMER REGARDING SHOOTING!]
