#667 - US M1884 Springfield

#667 US Springfield M1884This rifle has clearly been used as a shooting rifle as the bore is perfect and, when I received it, still had a few unburnt grains of powder in it! Firstly, the rifle is correct for what it is. The serial number is correct for the stock, the rear sight, the breech block and the rod. The rifle is in very nice condition with traces of case color showing on the 1884 marked breech block, some blue remaining on the bands and rear sight and the remainder of the rifle in a pleasing patina. There are a few scattered spots of very light, almost unnoticeable, roughness on the exterior of the barrel up near the front sight. The front sight blade has been raised to adjust point of impact. The markings on the lockplate are only softly struck, but are all there. This rifle is complete with its original M1884 cleaning rod bayonet and has a very difficult to find complete set of cleaning and service tools contained in the butt stock (see pics). This is a wonderful trapdoor, especially for the shooter, with its highly accurate Buffington rear sight and immaculate bore, and a very good, correct, representative .45 caliber example Springfield trapdoor.
