#674 M1888 German “Commission” rifleThese are relatively common and encountered quite often, but this particular rifle is in extraordinarily nice shape for an M1888 Commission. There is no rust or pitting anywhere on this rifle (except for a very minor bit on the top of the bolt ring and a tiny area on the receiver.) The jacket is in great shape, the bore is excellent, the markings are bright, crisp and clear and the wood looks almost un-issued but with numerous correct German proof marks. Most of the numbers match, including barrel, receiver and some screws, but not the magazine housing. Still, an excellent commission rifle, about as nice as one will ever see. No import marks.
