#712 Portuguese Mauser-Kropatschek M1886/89.This especially nice M1886/89 Colonial Kropatschek is in especially good condition and even includes its very scarce upper hand guard, which is missing on most Kropatschek rifles. The bore looks to be in very fine condition but was in heavy grease when I obtained the rifle and a buyer should finish completely cleaning it before shooting it. The receiver and rear sight area remain in the blue, but thin, the exposed barrel, band and nose cap do not have any blue, but are white and beginning to darken. Like all Steyr made Mauser-Kropatscheks, the action is as smooth as glass and appears to function flawlessly. This is a very nice rifle that almost certainly served front-line in Portugal and was certainly later employed in Portugal’s colonies before eventually making it to North America. A good addition to an early Mauser-type collection, a 19th Century black powder rifle collection, or C&R collection.
